This photo session took place at a city feral cat feeding station in Zagreb, Croatia, where every portrait tells a quiet story of resilience, survival, and hope. These cats are part of a community colony cared for daily by volunteers from S.O.S. Cat rescue group , a small but dedicated rescue group.
While photographing them, I tried to capture the delicate balance between wild independence and their fragile trust in humans. Some kept their distance, watching from the shadows; others approached with cautious curiosity, their eyes reflecting years of street life and unexpected affection.
The feeding station is more than just a place for food – it’s a sanctuary built from compassion. Through these portraits, I wanted to show that feral cats are not invisible; they are graceful, intelligent beings who’ve simply learned to survive on their own terms.
Each photograph in this series celebrates the quiet beauty of city feral cats and the volunteers who refuse to let them fade into the urban background.
